Standard / order basis	DIN 935-1 for metric coarse/fine thread product grades A and B; other forms require DIN 935-3, DIN 979, ASME B18.2.2 or an approved drawing.
Size information	Specify nominal thread diameter d, coarse/fine pitch P, across flats, nut height, slot width and cotter-pin arrangement.
Material	Stainless steel grade to the confirmed order and material certificate; carbon/alloy steel variants quoted separately.
Mechanical requirement	Stainless mechanical properties to the agreed requirement, such as ISO 3506-2 where applicable; do not infer grade from DIN 935 geometry alone.
Surface finish	Plain or passivated stainless. Zinc electroplating, black oxide and HDG apply to separate carbon-steel variants when specified.

Slotted and Castle Nut Ordering Guide

These nuts provide positive mechanical locking when their slots align with the cross-hole in a bolt or shaft and a cotter pin is installed. They should not be described as prevailing-torque self-locking nuts.

Slotted nut versus castle nut

A slotted nut has slots cut into the normal nut body. A castle or castellated nut has a raised crown with slots. Confirm the required geometry from the assembly drawing.

Standard and material are separate

DIN 935-1 defines the metric geometry and product grades. The required stainless grade or carbon-steel nut property class must be stated separately and supported by the agreed certificate.
